The Importance of Posthorax
Getting patients moving soon after surgery is important for recovery. But sudden movements—especially when muscles are weak—can cause pain or put too much pressure on the healing bone. This can lead to serious problems like the bone separating or wires cutting into it, which might require another surgery.

Wearing the support vest as directed helps protect the chest, giving patients more comfort, safety, and confidence.

Front

Back

Two cushions placed to the left and the right of the sternum provide consistent anteroposterior stability (front to back) which:
-
Reduces pain when coughing/moving
-
Improves patient mobility/breathing
-
Distributes pressure away from sternal wires
-
Lessens duration in ICU/ward
-
Shortens wound healing time

The specially designed breathing and stop mechanism allows enough elasticity for regular deep breathing while preventing overextension of the thorax.
Flexible-band feature allows for
secure normal breathing.

Stop band mechanism prevents over
extension when patients cough or move.

Posthorax
Biomechanical Test Results
Below are results from a biomechanical study on the Posthorax sternum support vest. We created a thorax model using sensors to test how much pressure was absorbed with each product as shown here.

We tested the pressure on the thorax when breathing, deep breathing, coughing and moving. For the full study with info about the thorax model and more please click HERE
